Kick-Off

  • Group division (in the group as heterogeneous as possible, but the groups to each other as homogeneous as possible)
  • Definition of roles and Assessment criteria (see Roles and their responsibility)
  • Thematic introduction to the case study
  • Explanation of the VCL procedure and Communication of the deadlines

VCL-Phase 1,2 &3

  • Working individually within the group
  • asynchronous and synchronous work
  • Schedule planned by the group (or project manager, see roles and their tasks)
  • Submission of tasks by the deadline

Workshop

  • Guided Brainstorming on how to accomplish the mission/overarching task of the case study
  • Short presentations of the groups
  • Discussion and Feedback on the initial Ideas

Interim Presentation

  • Presentation of the interim status of the results
  • Feedback and discussion
  • Insights into the state of work of all groups

Finial Presentation

  • Presentation of the concrete solution to the mission/overarching task of the case study.
  • Discussion and question session
  • Selection of the winning group with the most innovative and best solution

Roles

The distribution of roles within the group helps group organization and simulates the reality of project work. The following roles exist in this VCL:

Project manager

  • Creation of weekly project plans
  • Assignment of the tasks
  • Planning of team meetings
  • Contact person for E-Tutors and experts

Project reporter

  • creation of weekly reports
  • protocolling synchronous meetings
  • upload of finished tasks

Public relation manager

  • Creation of weekly social media post in MS Teams
  • Summary of the project progress
  • Template for protocols and presentations

Researcher

  • work on assignments
  • collaborative cooperation
  • critical questioning

Tasks

Finalisation

After students have successfully completed the module, they can receive a certificate confirming their participation. A template for this certificate can be found here.
