A 1.2- Group Agreement

It takes time for a new team to find common ground and start working to its full potential. To support you with this process, the University Board of Management gives you the task of creating a group agreement. A group agreement is a clear set of guidelines on how your group will handle discussions, meetings and sensitive information raised in the group setting. It provides an excellent foundation for further work and defines how the team will collaborate. To create a group agreement, each team member must reflect on the following questions:

  1. Expectations (Each team member states an individual answer)
    1. What are your goals for this project? (e.g., have fun, improve English skills, receive ECTS)
    2. Which hard and soft skills do you want to develop or refine during this course? (State 2 skills for each category)
  2. Commitments
    1. Please, state three commitments that will benefit your teamwork and help you meet your goals and expectations.
    2. How will you address potential non-performance regarding your goals and expectations as a team?
  3. Team Ground Rules
    1. Write down three rules of communication that will help you grow as a team.
    2. Do you need consensus (100% approval of both of you) before making a decision?
    3. Draft a statement about how your team will handle conflict that might appear during the course.
  4. Work Procedure (Each team member states an individual answer for 1.)
    1. Create your availability schedule for:
      1. Synchronous Meetings;
      2. Asynchronous Work;
      3. State how much time you are willing to invest in the project. (Daily & weekly).
    2. Set up critical review dates for your team to reflect and assess if you are on track.
